Moroccan crafts to bring home from Marrakech
The souks of Marrakech are a treasure chest of craftsmanship. Here are the pieces worth bringing home, and how to choose them.
Berber rugs
From thick cream wool rugs with dark lines to colourful, joyful weaves, Berber rugs are handmade in the villages of the Atlas. Take your time, compare, and ask how a rug can be shipped home.
Pottery and ceramics
Painted plates, tagines, bowls and tall clay jars: Moroccan pottery comes in every colour. Wrap fragile pieces well for the flight.
Lanterns and brass
Pierced metal lanterns cast patterns of light on the walls in the evening, like the brass lantern above the staircase at Dar Amna.

Small treasures
- Leather babouches, the soft Moroccan slippers
